Inkkas

The team behind Inkkas is a team of dreamers who imagined a possibility that no one else saw, to create a Fair Trade shoe line that appealed to global audiences yet honored local traditions. For Inkkas, it all started on a journey.  Founder Danny Ben-Nun, a designer and avid traveler, was strolling the local alleys of a local Peruvian market during a backpacking trip to the Andes when we came across a pair of shoes made from authentic, indigenous patterns and fabrics. Struck by the beauty of the shoes, Danny was determined to bring these shoes to international markets. After meeting with local producers to discuss ethical production, the dream was born: the dream to “wander through the world finding the most beautiful local patterns and designs and working with local artists and artisans to make new clothing come true.” The Inkkas’ creed is “to create an authentic and ethical products available to the general public while maintaining the utmost respect for the environment and local workers.”

Modavanti is proud to carry Inkkas and partner with a brand that “isn’t just a shoe, but a piece of a better planet.” Since that fateful backpacking trip in 2012, Danny and his team have dreamed up ad created beautiful colorful and handmade shoes sold across the world from LA to Tokyo while still maintaining their principles of fair trade practices that empower the local artisans they work with. In the two years since launch, Inkkas has grown in popularity and received glowing media coverage from the likes of Vogue, Elle and others. Today along with Modavanti, Inkkas is carried in well known retailers such as TopShop and Urban Outfitters.

Since the inception of Inkkas, the company has maintained their commitment to fair trade. With each purchase, customers help improve the workers communities’ day to day lives. More recently, to kick off the new year, Inkkas has launched its “One Shoe One Tree” project, “a partnership with Trees for The Future that engage the company to plant one tree for every pair of Inkkas sold.”
